Well, I've survived my first fashion week, and I am happy to report I am still in one piece! I loved every minute of working at Vauxhall Fashion Scout and I think I churned out some pretty good work. In case you havent seen it check out www.thefashionscout.blogspot.com. Before I left the last show tonight I said thanks and bye to my professor Martyn (the creator of Vauxhall Fashion Scout and how I got the job connection) and told him how much I got out of the opportunity. He told me that he was really impressed with my blog work and had passed it on to the directior of Marangoni (Monica...very serious Italian woman)! Very cool. I like getting my name out there! The editor of the blog, Hannah, also offered to be a resume reference and said to keep in touch and let me know if I needed more work. GREAT!
So all-in-all it was a very productive experience....
As for yesterday, I started work at a PR agency and HATED it! I don't want to get into all the details, but it was enough for me to realize that writing and heading towards working at a magazine is the direction I should be going. Now I just need to get cracking on making contacts in New York and begin researching where I'd like to work.
I took lots of video and photos and I am going to work tomorrow and Thursday on putting it together so you can see it all.
Thanks for all the well wishes...and thanks Mom and Dad for giving me this amazing opportunity!!
xoxo

London Fashion Week
It's Saturday night and I have seen four fashion shows at the Off-schedule venue where I am writing. If you've been checking the blog (see post below for address) then you know I've only reviewed one of these shows. I reviewed the Horace show (to make your searching easier). It was quite interesting to try to give my opinion on something that is so far from my personal fashion realm. I think I did a pretty good job however.
So far its been a lot of fun...but it is true what other industry people have told me...going to fashion shows only looks glamorous...in reality there's a lot of haning around, shuffling from place to place and waiting for shows that NEVER start on time...
Those who really know me, know I am NEVER on time for anything. This is truly the industry I belong in; where do you think they coined the term "fashionably late." I'm not the only one!!
I saw some nice looking male models today...one perk of the job...don't worry Paul, you're the only model I want! The female models are all too tall, too thin and have zero expression. It is very entertaining to watch them strut the catwalk in some very comprimising clothes and shoes. Not all the designers are modest and these girls just have let it all hang out for hundreds of people! I couldn't imagine being on display like that. Some of the designers have had INSANE shoes and these poor girls have such a hard time walking in them. The hair and makeup is not always pleasant either I would hate to be sprayed down and caked up only to have to run to another show, take it all off and get made up again. Who would ever want to do this?? I guess they get paid enough to take the abuse.
All in all, I love the surroundings and the busy-ness if it all. I really feel like this is what I should be doing with my life and career. I know I'm headed in the right direction. It will only be a few years now until I'm sitting in the front row instead of standing in the back!

I Have Arrived!!!
Ok, well maybe I haven't arrived, so much as I'm just getting started! London Fashion Week starts tomorrow and I will be attending four confirmed shows and hopefully more that I might be able to sneak in to. I will be blogging for the online site www.thefashionscout.blogspot.com so be sure to look for my show reviews on there. The blog then gets turned into an online newsletter that will be sent to over 3,000, journalists, buyers and designers! I will also hopefully (not yet confirmed) be going to some parties to cover the juicy celebrations after the shows.
It was an amazing feeling to see the big white tents all set up outside the Natural History Museum...I'm not covering shows from the tents...I am covering the "OFF" schedule shows at another venue just down the block. Vauxhall Fashion Scout promotes emerging talent who many then go on to show in the big tents for future collections. It is a kind of launching pad for them so they can be exposed to the same crowd that attends the big shows.
I will be taking lots of photos of anyone and anything that is interesting, so I will have a lot to show you all. I am so super excited!!! Everyone in this industry always remembers their first fashion week experience so I want to make sure I enjoy every minute of it.
Stay Tuned for all the juicy details...I will be attending my first show tomorrow at 2pm...

Long Time No See!
I'm still alive! And I have successfully completed my first semester at Marangoni. So the good news is that I am 50% finished and from here I can start counting down the time left.
London Fashion Week starts on Friday and I will be working as a writer for an online newsletter covering the shows and backstage stuff. I also interviewd today for another part time position helping at a fashion PR agency, once a week, keeping their samples in order and scowering the media for press clippings...basically the crap they dont have time to do themselves! Whatever, I'll take it.
I have been so busy lately I havent really been out in London. It has also been one of the coldest and worst winters on record, so it has been too miserable to go outside unless absolutely necessary! I cant wait for the weather to warm up a bit so I can get out and go do some great London stuff.
Anyways, Its late now I'm gunna put on a movie and relax...
Sorry the blog has been so short...I will try my best to blog about fashion week next weekend! I'm sure that will be very exciting!
Love to everyone!

Post-Holiday Shuffle P.S...
I wanted to share some pictures from my time at home...and let you know I will be working on another amature video for my Marketing class soon, so stay tuned for my brilliant (jk!) production. Picures are of Me @ Rockefeller Plaza, Me and Grandma, Mikey as a fashion-forward snowboarder, and Paul and I in NYC!

Post-Holiday Shuffle
Hello Hello,
I had a very tiring but productive week last week. After retuning back from Holiday I jumped right into school work because of a big presentation I was giving as a group project. On Friday my group and I (for a midterm grade) pitched to two designers on the future objectives and messages of their brand HEMYCA (www.hemyca.com). This was part of my Promotions class and we were presenting as if we were a PR agency to help them define and steer their business in the right direction. It was a fun experience to be in front of "real" industry clients. I'm not sure how our work was received yet, but I will let you know when I do.
I took all my other midterms before I left for Holiday and have been getting my grades back as I attend classes this week. So far I have already received two 10's!! Amazing...(10 is the best you can receive, and the grades are doubled b/c they are midterms) so thats always good news! Right now I'm just trying my best to stay organized and making sure my priorities are in line...not that they weren't before. School is always #1 but I'm also looking into some work experience and perhaps some freelance writing in the local papers...lots to think about and not enough time.
I'm looking forward to my dad being in London this weekend! He will be here on business, but we have made plans to meet up Saturday. Always good to get a good meal out of visitors...tuna, mac and cheese and hummus on crackers can get a bit boring!!
Anyways, back to work right now...more exams this week....this school is on crack I swear!!! Exams every 2 weeks...I barely have time to let anything sink in. Only 5 months to go; they will be here and gone before I know it, but I've got plenty to keep me busy until then.
Hugs and Kisses...especially you Grandma...I know you check this everyday!!
